Dr Doug English is an Australian Veterinarian and long-time Turmeric researcher.

He created his Golden Paste recipe by adapting traditional recipes to current cooking practices and materials.

In 2012, Dr Doug founded the Turmeric User Group with the aim of collecting reports on the benefits of turmeric. Not long after that, the Nutritional Turmeric Bites & Bars | Turmeric Life website was started.

Being a Vet, Dr Doug’s focus was primarily on his animal clients, but his company – Turmeric Life – includes several turmeric-based products for humans as well.

I first met Dr Doug when I lived in Cairns, where he was my Doberman Niki’s Vet.  He was also the first Vet to see my little invention (back then at an amateurish stage) the Digger Dog Nail File. This file, the first of its kind in the world, was designed for a dog’s more problematic front nails.

Dr Doug explained:

‘Trimming a dog’s nails is an important health task. It is more important to clip the fronts, because the hind toenails wear better as they are used more when the dog moves.’

Neither Dr Doug nor I live in Cairns anymore – he is now based in Burleigh Heads QLD and I live in Melbourne.
